El Prat De Llobregat Barcelona International Airport
Barcelona El Prat Airport is located 12 kilometres south-west of the centre of Barcelona in Catalonia. It is Spain's second largest airport after Madrid-Barajas Airport, the number one airport in the Mediterranean and Catalonia, and has long been in the top ten busiest airports in Europe. Vueling Airlines and Level have established bases here, and Air Europa, Iberia, EasyJet, Norwegian, Ryanair and private jet carriers also operate here. The airport operates flights to Spain, Europe, North Africa and to a lesser extent Southeast Asia, Latin America and North America.
In the past, there was an air route between Barcelona and Madrid, known as the Puente Aerea (Bridge of Heaven), and it was the busiest air route in the world. Its popularity decreased when the high-speed railway between the two cities was opened, which overshadowed the air connection. Parking is available in the car parks or in the outdoor areas near the airport terminals. The airport is open 24 hours a day and has many restaurants, shops and other services for passengers travelling with family and children or for business.
